5D_2704 I like discovering natures icons and symbols, probably due to early exposure to Minor Whites work. I came across this last week in the Owens Valley. It immediately struck me as illustration of some ancient tale of a wandering healer or sage.

This is a single exposure modified with masking in PS5. The sharpening seems to have fallen completely apart going to display size.

Interesting place, Guy. Love the coloring of the rockface and the contrast of the scrub at the bottom. I guess a little more ground would make the base a bit more stable - not sure about the branches touching the frame. One more thing - web sharpening looks too strong to me (in both versions). That's it - the rest is fine ;)

Very nice Guy. I really like the subject matter here and the overall composition, but do find myself agreeing with Andreas concerning the sharpening.

A very interesting shot Guy. One of those images that really show a different view on the world, something we would not see with a quick look at the landscape. It has to be found, isolated and presented. And you did very well.

I am enjoying the rock colors and the pattern on it and the brush color, but it is feeling a bit cut off at the bottom to me. It does look a bit oversharpened, too. I would agree it does seem like a ancient illustration. Cool shapes and color.

Nice capture of a very interesting natural marking. Like clouds, what you make of it is entirely up to the imagination. I think the composition is pretty classic and works very well. The textures and natural colors really make the scene in the larger version but I agree with others that it appears to be just a bit oversharpened. Very nice overall, Guy!
