Mt. Edith Cavell
by Jay Levin
Mt. Edith Cavell is a mountain located in Jasper National Park. As a matter of history, the mountain was named in 1916 for Edith Cavell, an English nurse and spy executed by the Germans by firing squad during World War I for having helped allied soldiers escape from occupied
Belgium to the Netherlands in violation of military law.
The photograph was taken at 7:29 A.M. on September 15. Cavell Lake is in the foreground. This was shot as a six image HDR because the sensor was not able to handle the contrast in the scene.
