I spent a frustrating hour or so trying to capture this little cutey...they never hold still! This Ruby-crowned Kinglet is one of a few I got with the bird sharp. I also saw one with the ruby crest (first time for me), but I couldn't get him out of the bushes.

50D, 500mm, ISO 200, 1/60th, F4 Please see LARGER version if you can. Thanks for your critique/comments.

Love the colors and the habitat. Great catch of a very fast little bird!

yikes--I can't even imagine trying to catch a kinglet at 1/60--sounds like the embodiment of frustration! I like the way the pose fits in between the two diagonal branches, and the way they all work together, along with the leaves in the urc, for the composition.

I have been doing the same thing with a Golden-crown and I know how you feel. It is a lot of fun though and you did well to get this one.

These are very small, quick, and fast little birds - And they're always flickin' their darn tails too..
Great job getting this one Sharon, well done :wavey:
