#508 Among the Maples

A few weeks ago I took a hike up West Fork of Oak Creek to photograph the changing maples. On the hike out in the evening, I noticed this trunk rising among the maple leaves. The trunk was purposely photographed at thirds placement as centered did not look as good to me. I wonder if flipping the image so the trunk is on the right would make any difference.

Doug, I love the color. I think flipping this horizontally would make a difference only if the gold branches now on the left were in perfect focus with the tree trunk OOF. The eye tends to read from left to write (in most cultures).

Regards,

Carol

Not only a very appealing scene, but a great example of the rule of thirds. I'm seeing three lines along the vertical or horizontal thirds of the scene, and the upper right hand branch is well placed as a prominent object at an interesction. Nicely balanced and very pretty.
