A Path to Sanctuary

If it's autumn, it must be Zion.

This is from one of the many fantastic canyons in the eastern Zion high country which are easily accessible from the road between the tunnel and the east entrance. The autumn colors are great this year (in my opinion), but later than normal.

A question - The few leaves on the wall at the top in the foreground, are they a distraction?

Wonderful leading lines. The wide-angle perspective works well here.

Loved the composition. The lines and curves are perfectly placed. The colors add the perfect touch. Wonderful.

The leaves are not a distraction - not at all. Comp works great, very effective, but the highlight are a tad too bright in my opinion, (fg, bg). This could be a result of downsizing and sharpening, I have seen that happening with my files too.

The wide angle comp works very well here. The leaves on the wall at the top are not a distraction at all. Well done

Talk about forced perspective! Exellent use of lines.
I agree that the highlights could be tamed a bit, but otherwise a fine image.

I like the wide view and the curved rock wall making a wonderful lead-in. Maybe the highlights are a bit too bright so that some of the lovely details are lost. Web sharpening looks a little strong too - even for me ;)

Strong use of lines in this, Jim. I don't feel that the leaves along the wall are a distraction. I like the contrast that the leaves offer with the moss.

Lovely, Jim. Great feeling of depth here, owing to the lines and receding canyon floor.
The detail is good and the colors are pretty without being over saturated.

yeah, the colors were nice this year, except at 4500 feet of course, and the maples rocked, ive got dozens of shots just of maple leaves (theyre headed for the flora gallery--i want to visit other forums more  )
This is real nice, Jim, good comp and subject. I dont mind the upper leaves a bit. I would burn down the highlites though. :wavey:

I like the wide view here Jim and the curving sandstone wall, the leaves on the top aren't a distraction to me. The scattering of leaves on the floor are a nice addition.

Gary.

I love the leading lines and how much depth you've got here. I think those leaves are an important addition. Beautiful shot.

Love the perspective and the strong use of lines. The leaf strewn ground really adds to the almost dizzying feel. Excellent work.

These passage ways are great finds, and wide view works for me. Having just returned from that area, you have managed to find some virgin turf - no footprint paths stomped through the slots - a unique find in itself!. Timing must have been perfect. The upper leaves are not a distraction - could burn them a little to make them stand out less, but looks great. I enjoyed the quiet and solitude of these walkways, as I'm sure you did as well.
