Taken on Monday along the Merced river in Yosemite. The willows along the river were glowing all on their own. This is a 5 frame digital stitch which was first conceived as a LF pano which is coming soon. Although, the digital version is very detailed in and of itself.

Nikon D2x, Nikon 80-200mm at 80mm. ISO 100.

Checkout the Larger version.

Comments and Critiques appreciated.

Very strange why this hasn't gotten any comments? I really like this! I would consider darken the upper 15% of the frame just a little, but without darkening the yellow flora. I would also darken the far right hand reflection, bringing it in alignment with the rest of the reflections. Other than that I think it is a wonderful image.

Thanks for the feedback Shane. Yeah I was wondering as well about the lack of feedback. In fact most photos seem to have a scant number of comments. I guess if the image does not border on edge of reality it does not impress anymore. What has happened to good photography?

Youssef,

This can't be good - almost an entire day and no comments? c'mon folks!

I hope to be finding scenes like this tomorrow when I arrive in Yosemite. Although the forecast is rather iffy and it will be cold!

I really like what you've seen and captured here Youssef. The only thing I can offer is that I think I'm wishing for more - either more of the forest up top, or more reflection and color at the bottom. the grass and rock ground the image very nicely, but it's the top and bottom that really keep me interested, and that's why I think I want to see more. But pretty minor. I really like what you've seen and captured here.

Thanks Lon. I think the 4x5 will make up for what is missing here. Good luck and keep warm, and I hope you will find some good color left after this storm moves through.

Works really well for me, Youssef. There is a sense of life in this photograph that I find missing in those at-the-edge-of-reality images.

I was in this vicinity last Sunday evening and can attest to the beauty of the surroundings. Your picture does justice to the location.

I like the rainbow of reflected colors in the river. The vertical band of reflection on the right hand side is a little distracting. The colors are beautiful.

Interesting comp, Youssef. The larger version is necessary to really appreciate this, I think. I like the way you've tamed the business of the scene by concentrating on the edge and letting the upper (busy) areas be reduced to abstraction in the reflection.

Did I mention I really like this photo! Even more than the first time I seen it in fact. The comp, and all the various elements come together beautifully. I think you nailed it by saying that for most photos to garner any attention they must border on the edge of reality. I guess that could open up a long and worthwhile conversation. Possibly one you should consider starting in a thread?
