the gossip

The road leading to my hometown, Stanley (Tasmania, Australia) is lined with these teetrees, and on this particular morning a lovely fog had shrouded them. I used a 200mm lens to blur the background and isolate the selected trees.....they resembled humans in a conversation to me, and one appeared to be passing on the privileged information, hence the name...
All comments/critiques welcome! I should add that these trees vary from 6 to 25 feet in height...sorry for leaving that info out!!

"Ethereal" is a somewhat overused term I think (I use it frequently myself, lol), but I can't think of another word that would describe this image more accurately! Love it David!

The allusion to human figures is quite striking. The stylized look is enhanced by the fog. Good seeing.

From here on the other side of the world, I have no idea how tall these are. You refer to them as trees, but I can't tell if they are giant or only inches tall. I think that adds to the mystique.

Moody, mysterious, they definitely have an animated look. I really like this image

Welcome to NPN!! You've captured a great mood here, and the low saturation is complimentary. I too would like to know how tall these are; it is hard to gain a perspective.

Really special atmosphere David. I love how it has a painterly feel and in the middle it looks like a boy picking up a tree branch. Great work

This is larger than life turned miniature. I would have guessed these tall plants but not 6 to 25ft trees! I also like the creative color choice to the processing with the fog. And of course welcome to NPN!

I just spotted that "boy" Anthony refers to. That's a fantastic aspect of this photograph. Welcome to NPN!

Very artistic rendition, David. I can see these trees as good subjects for a painting. My only critique would be a matter of preference. I would prefer a crop off the top and just a hair more room on the sides.

Welcome to NPN! :wavey:

I thought these were just weeds. But, when I opened it, I see they are actually very tall trees. I really like the light and subdued color in this, and yes, one does look like it's sharing some juicy gossip. So, excellent use of gesture as well.

Welcome to NPN David, and very nice first post. As Nancy said, moody and mysterious, kind of like an "end of the world" image. Well done.

David,

Welcome to NPN and the Landscape Gallery! What a wonderful and moody first post. I too first thought of a more intimate image of weeds or something, so scale really adds a little mystery to this wonderful capture. The fog of course adds the great atmosphere and I think you did a great job with this capture. No nits from me.

Welcome aboard and we look forward to your images and participation in the forums and galleries.

Very ethereal David. I love how trees take on an almost human quality. I think you captured that very well here. BTW - Welcome to NPN!
