Buffalo Alley

This image of the Gibbon River is an area where buffalo migrate back and forth during different seasons. In fact there is a buffalo in the image but very hard to see. I've had my eye on this area for awhile and caught some good light on the way home from the Tetons.

As always thanks for taking a look. Any critique, opinion or anything else you would like to add would be much appreciated.

This really is a beautiful scene, Dean. I love the colors and light. The nice curve of the river with the reflection looks wonderful.

Love the composition here Dean. A little less shadow on the left would be nice but I'm really liking this.

Beautiful scene, love the curve and reflection in the river. Nice also how the open sky above sort of mimics the shape of the river, nice work!

Love the lines. Simple and pleasant. Have you considered taking some off the top?

Alex, I actually already cropped the top some. If I take any more I feel it squeezes the image to much.

Thanks all for your comments.

Hi Dean. Overall I really like this image, and do not have any real processing critique to give you. I don't think it is your best work, but it is a clean comp. I think I would have liked this better if you had a higher vantage point to have more of a leading line, but you can't always get what you want right? Cheers!

Koveh, I could have shot his from the bridge, but not without getting run over. Yellowstone roads anytime of the year are a dangerous place to be close to.

Thanks for the comment, much appreciated.

This is a nice soothing image. The lines of the bank slowly wind you back to the horizon. The color palette is perfect and the balance between the water and the sky is believable. The sky gradation is perfect for the alpenglow on the hills and lower clouds.

If it were mine I would consider adding some luminance to the straw colors on both sides of the river above the first bend and a bit higher value on the green slopes.

Fly fishers would love this shot. I do.

A very beautiful creation, Dean. I not only love the composition and the light but also your fine touch in processing.

Dean this is a winner! :toast:

My only nit is its lack of sharpness for web.

This one look a little better Mark? I have a a lot of problems deciding how far to go with sharpening and I dislike images that are over sharpened. It's a little easier for me at least to deal with solid subjects like rocks or rock walls etc. Thanks for taking a look.
