Simple fall still-life

This was actually taken last year when we were walking along a lake in Maine. I looked down and was struck by the simple fall still-life at my feet. I liked the placment of the leaf in relation to the various pebbles.

Canon Rebel T1i. 90mm macro lens. F/32 for 1 sec. ISO 400. Handheld.

I like the placement Barbara, and the graphic simplicity. Possibly adding a little local contrast enhancement will will give mroe clarity to the leafs veins.

I really like the color of the leaf in contrast to the sand and stones. A simple and elegant composition. Nice

The contrasts in this shot are beautiful, Carolyn. The dark sand lets the leaf stand out - but provides an interesting background. I also love the contrast between the almost colorless background - and the brilliant colors in the leaf. Contrast in color, tone, texture, shape... this is a neat shot. Well done!

This works pretty well for me for all the reasons mentioned by others. Handheld for 1 second? Now that's a steady hand ...

Very smiple and beautiful image. I also the the placement of the left next to the pebbles. Great and eye and catch.
