Canon 1D Mark 4 With EF 300 mm 2.8
1/200 sec, F 4.0, ISO 1600

I am back from a photography deprived vacation. I found an area adjacent a well lighted area where because of the light they don't get red eye. This was taken with the aid of an LED flashlight at night. The bird let me snap away for 20 minutes. I was able to capture my pictures as close as 10 feet away. It was another truly magical encounter for me. I had my pet sitter's 10 year old with me who enjoyed seeing the owl.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

Mike

Sweet! Love the detail here and the dark BG. He/she really stands out, and the eye is great.
Looking forward to more images of this owl -

Very effective not easy to get a night scene like this. Obviously the light was stopping you getting a greater dof but the essential eyes are really sharp. Graham

This is a gorgeous image Michael. Very well done considering the source of your light.

Nice image. Lighting works very well here. The view of the feet and talons is very nice also.
