This shot of a Great Blue was taken 9/5/11 at San Joaquin Wildlife Preserve in Irvine, CA. He was fishing in the pond below and walked up the bank.

Nice pose and a good look at how tall these birds really are, Patrick. Detail looks reasonable at this scale, and the exposure looks good.

Patrick, I like this pose that you have captured - very different than the usual Great Blue Heron pose. It makes the viewer really wonder what he's looking at.
