The dusting of green lichens (?) (moss?) help seperate the leaf from the wood. I love the ebb and flow of the shadows and light on the wood. The leaf adds interest and a focal point but I'm wondering if the tree would have held its own without it. I keep looking past the leaf to the wood and I love it.

There is a lot to like in this shot...the character of the log shows much. And the textures and spine lines of the leaves offer a nice contrast. Cropping the top had to be tough...I want to see a better conclusion of the leaflet. I like the lone leaf.

Todd,
I really like the comp, the colors and the textures captured. Nicely done.

Todd, I like the textures and the angled entry for the stem but this one does not work for me that well as the previous takes from you. It may be the wayward yellow leaf and the dark shadows that makes me think so.

Hi Todd, With this scene, I'm having a difficult time discerning whether the subject is the leaves or the bark. I think it might have been more successful had you shot with a wider opening in your lens. The scene has lots of possibilities.

Carol

Todd:
Nicely seen and captured. I like the almost monochrome look and the texture of the tree. The image could do with another round of sharpening.
