Grand Prismatic Spring

This is the most impressive of all of the geothermal features in Yellowstone. From the boardwalk next to the spring, you only see a large pool with blue steam coming off of it & no real color. If you take the time to scurry up a steep hill behind the spring and boardwalk complex midday when the sun is beaming straight down, you get this incredible scene. These colors have not been altered or saturated. I did use a polarizer to cut through a bit of the steam. The spring is over 200 feet across - you can see the people on the boardwalk for scale. I chose a broader crop to show the other springs in this Midway Geyser Basin area.
The burnt trees in the foreground are lodgepole pines that had burned in a previous fire in the area. I chose not to clone them out as they are part of the environment.

Wick, I really like your choice of composition. Most of the images I have seen from this hill only show Grand Prismatic, but it is nice to see the other pools and boardwalk to get a grand view of the area. Very nice!

Great take on one of Yellowstone's iconic images. I like seeing the other features and the trees in the foreground tell the true story of the place over the last few years.

Gorgeous colors and well worth the hike up the hill to get this shot. I like that you left the burned trees as they show the history of this fascinating area.
