Well conceived image - framing, placement of the tent.
Last fall I also did some Badlands Camping and made a number of night photos. We had a 1/4 moon illuminating the landscape making for some interesting images, but this, with wonderful black sky is stunning. Next trip will certainly be planned differently
Excellent shot.

Beautiful, John. Great job controlling the exposure of the tent while bringing out the stars and Milky Way.

Great placement of the tent right under the Milky Way. Single exposure?
I wish we could see the starts here in E. Tennessee. Even if we get away from light and up in the mountains there is still so much moisture in the air that it blocks our view of the stars. FIrst time I saw the Milky Way was in Mesa Verde. Blew me away!

Spectacular sky. I like how you've balanced the light in the tent and gotten some detail in the hills behind the tent. Great job.

Stunning photograph! Can you reveal some of the technical details involved in taking it?
