RMNP Elk

One of the many elk shots I took while visiting RMNP.
Does this one feel to centered for any of you. I left the space on the right side but the head is dead centered so that is the reason for my question. This one is full frame.

Any other C&C welcome also.

Bruce

I notice that on my laptop this one does not have the same colors as the desktop.

Perfectly placed, Bruce, if a little crowded. What happens with me in this situation is the too late realization that I should have given the subject more breathing room. As for the photo, the detail and pose of the elk is perfect.

Love the bugling. I think it may work better either with a closer crop or you could have pulled out further (but sometimes that's not possible). Nice details in the fur.

Very nice look at those impressive antlers Bruce. The centered head doesn't bother me here but it does seem slightly tight on the left. Personally I'd prefer that the legs weren't cut off.

Great pose and detail. It would have been nice if the legs were included, but there are times when it is not possible.

Nice bugle shot Bruce. I like the head angle on this and I don't feel i is too centered because of the body position. However, it seems like an in-between shot for me. I would have either included the entire elk (not sure if that was possible since you don't list which lens you used, i.e., fixed focal vs. a telephoto) or went in tighter for portrait.;;;like I said, this one feels in between, so if it were mine, I might crop it tighter.

Thanks for the comments so far. I also wondered about the legs being cut off. As posted this is full frame. I was using the 300 f4L on a canon 30d and there is a good chance I had the 1.4 tc on also. I am on the iPad right now so I can't look that up at the moment.

I just remembered I have this posted on another site that lists the data. This was with the 300mm only no tc.

It does not feel too centered for me at all, but I too would prefer to see the rest of the legs - it feels amputated like this. Great pose and expression.

Neat facing bugle pose of a terrific bull. I think I would lower contrast a touch in the darker regions and try to maximize shadow detail. I, too, would prefer to see all the legs.
