Monsters of Midway

Midway Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park
3 am and the scene is completely illuminated by the full moon. 30 second exposure.

Okay, maybe not monsters but they do resemble ghosts.

Yes, the geysers do resemble ghosts. The foreground is so interesting with the curves. I almost wish some of the stars were not present. They fight for attention, and IMO, are nowhere near as attractive as the geysers and the curves of water.

Regards,

Carol

I really like the stars as a backdrop and the deep hues. Makes this otherworldly scene look even more alien. :toast:

I really like this a lot Richard. They certainly have a ghostly feel. Processing looks right on for the scene as well.

Beautiful night photo Richard. Always amazing to see what the moon can do to a landscape at night. :toast:

Excellent Richard! :toast: :toast: :toast: Remarkable image.

Now how about some technical info?

I do see a bit of haloing on the right horizon line (and left but the left is camouflaged).

Very nicely done Richard. Those ethereal plumes work very well with the starry sky and moonlit landscape.

The geysers are awesome, Richard--great exposure!
Maybe its just me, but the sky looks very odd to me, almost looks like you created it in Photoshop--i know that isnt the case, but that's how it looks, because the stars all seem the same brightness, and equally spaced
Cool shot, tho :wavey:

Awesome image, Richard. Love the cool/warm color combination. The sharp points of starlight is another wonderful contrast to the soft wisps of the geyser jets. Wonderful comp with the water curving through the image reflecting the sky.
