Lesser Yellow Legs

Quite a few shorebirds migrating into the state at this point. This lesser yellow legs was nice enough to fly by me nice and close. I got a few good frames out of this pass. Not sure which I like the most. Maybe I will post a short series. Please view the larger version to see the details on this small bird. Thanks.

Very nice. These birds move too fast and far away for my skills.

Never an easy shot to make but you grabbed plenty of detail here.

Great shot, excellent catch. Love the wing position and the details, even under the wing!

Sweet shot of this yellowlegs Ron, great detail. I would have thought this was a Greater as the bill looks slightly upturned to me. :toast:

Nate, yes, the bill is slightly up turned, but it is all one color and the bird was only about 11 inches long (best guess as it flew by). That says lesser to me as the greater has a bicolored bill and is about 15 inches long. However, I may be wrong. I am not very good at IDing these smaller birds.

Truly exceptional Ron, razor sharp and perfectly exposed, everything I aspire to with such a capture, though still got a ways to go ;^)

Ron,
Just getting around to commenting and I noticed your yellow legs. Tough bird to get in flight. You did a good job capturing the details. Would like to see some more of this in a series for sure.
