Just got back from a 3 day circuit around CO--hoping to catch some fall colors, but they're extremeley late this season; i'm sure the extremely warm summer and September didn't help any. One advantage of the late colors was that the ferns were at peak color--they're usually dead by the time the aspen are peaking. This is near Kebler Pass, a 2 image stitch.

Thanks for the comments!
In the B/W conversion, the top holds the real interest.

Beautiful! I love this image and what a great kick-start to the fall season. The green at the bottom is not an image killer for me, but then again I don't have the same affliction for it that you do...
Oh, almost forgot. The boulder anchors the scene perfectly. Well done Mr. Rose.

My only nit that hits me immediately is the yellow cast in the aspen trees and its intensity. I would try to go more neutral (or more cool) up there.
The B&W is nice, but I think color is essential here. I love the way the ferns seem to be reflecting yellow light onto the aspen trunks! Very well done!
Mark--ordinarily id be with you there on neuturalizing the yellow cast on the aspen--if there wasnt any yellow light, but there was very strong yellow reflected light here and i was trying to be true to the scene. The night before, at sunset there were pink clouds and the aspens all turned pink for about 90 seconds--unfortunately not enough time for me to find a decent comp cause the pink aspen were quite striking--never seen that before!
