Dahlia facing a new day

by Craig Strand

We have a few more weeks of Dahlia shooting, at least until the first frost. This was taken about mid day (slept in,) and I like the effect with a piece of black mat board held behind. A "touch" of NIK's classic soft focus filter applied for the look I was after.

Larger version available, I thank you for stopping!

A very powerful image, Craig ! It looks like those blazes painted on the cars in the 60's !

Striking image Craig. Rich color and I like the diagonal bias and the placement of the flower in the frame. Very well composed and presented.

Craig:
Attention grabbing image. The fiery color seems to emerge from the darkness and fits the title. Very nice lighting for mid day.

This just jumps off the screen at me! The soft filter works well with this subject and lighting.

Fantastic colors and crazy good processing, Craig. Flames all around. A few dust spots here and there can be cloned out if you wish. :toast:

Very bold statement with the color, light, and darkness behind Craig. A very cool photo.
