I shot this last weekend at the Colo. National Monument. I walked around quite a bit looking for different perspectives of this oft-photographed monolith (Independence Monument). Is the foreground too busy?

Hi Angela, IMHO the FG is not too busy, in fact I found myself wanting to see just a bit more of the tree remains. I think it adds scale to the image. I can't decide if I like it better with the sky line cropped just enough to remove the sky or leave it as it is. Thanks for sharing.

I don't find the FG too busy and I like the way you handled the light on the rocks here. I almost transplanted my midwestern self to Grand Junction but it didn't work out so I am experiencing what I missed out on vicariously through your work :D

I like it just the way it is, Angela. The large version has a lot more presence, like you were standing right there. The haze in the distance dulls that part of the scene but there's not much you can do about that except maybe some selective contrast.

Quite a beautiful scene, Angela. The lovely side-light really enhances the lines and textures of the rocks. I think perhaps the fg is rather busy as it overtakes the scene quite a lot, in fact half of the frame, and partially obscures and overtakes the presence of the monument. Even so, the quality of light really carries the image for me, as well as adding lots of drama and presence to the scene.

The FG is fine for me. Nice unique image of the 'monument', at least it is to me.
