Green Heron on a perch over lily pads. Did not stay very long but posed a bit before he flew off. Nikon D300s, 300mm f2.8 lens with 1.4 tc. ISO-500, f 6.3, S-1/640. Cropped from vertical. Thanks for looking critique welcomed. Ray

Great shot Ray! Plenty of detail and interest, love the patterns and colours of the plumage. Easy to understand why you'd want to crop this from a vertical, and unless there's some great distraction in the RH side of the frame, I'd certainly consider adding some more canvas giving the young fellla more space to look into.

Love the image Ray. My wife loves "scratch shots" and whenever I am out I try to capture a scratch image for her. I am sure she will like this one when she visits NPN tonight. I agree that a little more room on the right side would be nice. Your techs are right on IMO and I like the background which compliments the colors of the Heron.

Hey Ray,
Greenies are one of my favorites! Perch and light look good as does the action. A nice one!

Ray,
Sweet image. Only things needing attention are the bright circle in the water to be toned down or cloned out, and maybe the removal of the cob webs although I kinda like them. Not sure on that one. Love the raised foot and the complete clarity and sharpness. I generally don't like a square comp and I think this could use more room on the top and the right side and I'm not sure you need that much room along the bottom. Just a thought. Love it!!! :toast:

This is super Ray. I love the perch and the bird. Nice sharpness and detail. What makes the image for me is the BG. Love the lily pads close and the smooth water behind. My personal taste would be for a bit more room on the right.

I love the pose and comp. of this not easily captured heron. His scratching the itch action is a plus. Excellent detail too!
