A backlit morning glory taken last weekend at fellows Riverside Gardens, Youngstown. I thought this looked morning starlike, hence the name. (For the record, this image was taken before Larry posted his astral like MG, so any imagery theft is post capture). D700, 180 macro, f22, 1/50, iso 200, tripod. Larger image provided. Comments/suggestions appreciated.

Scott:
Great creative minds think alike. This is a nice follow-up to Larry's galactic image. I like the title and hope someone else post one called Mars

I like the star-like shape of the petals which support the astronomical theme and the yellow in the throat looking like sunlight. A minor nit is the almost vertical shadow across the 3 o'clock petal which looked out of place. I might also darken the top portion some to heighten the mysterious mood.

Astronomical theme is good. RE the image I like the back lit petals and soft colors. Very dreamy feel and very artistic.

Tastefully done, Scott. A great example for why Photography is all about light. The light gives a metallic look to the petals. I'd lighten if possible the lower right corner.

This is spectacular Scott. Strong comp and wonderful light.

I do agree with Ram about brightening the bottom right corner a bit.

Superb followup to Larry's image but a very fine image in it's own right.

This is wonderful, Scott. When I first looked at this, I agreed with Ram about lightening the lrc but I also thought about darkening the ulc as Gary stated. So...I think I would actually crop from the top just a bit below the fold on the left and then I think the balance of light and dark are good.just my 2 cents. I really do like the radiating light through the bloom. Nicely done

Thanks for the comments. I was trying to convey the concept of deep space shadows in the original. Here's a slightly lighter version for comparison.

Gary, thanks for the suggestion about the vertical stem shadow at 3:00! Funny how I miss obvious stuff like.

This sparks the imagination and appreciation of flowerhead that is unique...not what I typically receive when walking through the garden. Use of light, angles, and colors is superb.

Scott:
I think I prefer the darker version more - mysterious and more deep space feel.

Scott, for me the first version is more creative and a bit abstract; the second version is a beautiful floral photo of a beautiful flower.
So, I prefer the first: it's splendid.
Take care.
