This is a few minutes' walk from my house and I photographed it shortly after Hurricane Irene. Good thing it's walkable, because the net day we had more heavy rains and they closed the road to cars again. Made with my Nikon D90, from the top of an embankment that affords very little alternative for different perspectives, so it's an interesting challenge. I didn't set out to make a pano; I simply decided to crop out the road that passes over this spot.

Nancy, I like the scene and how you have treated the flowing water (would like to have seen the tech info for this photo). I understand your cropping out the road, but to me it seems just a bit to tight, This is a minor concern, but it appears like there is a sign behind the upright post, I would suggest cloning it out, it is more visible in the larger image. Hope you did not get any flood damage. Thanks for sharing.

I understand that with the cropping, we have to do things sometimes that we wouldn't normally do, but I wish the image was a bit less symmetrical. It is fun to peer into the reflections in the larger version. We both have pilings in our river this week.

I really like the falls and the reflections in the water above the falls. I also agree that the composition feels tight but understand the limits of the challenge. I think you've done a commendable job of getting a high quality photo under challenging conditions. I agree with you about this week's challenge, which should push us to be better photographers by relying less on magic conditions or locations and making us work with what we've got.

Very nice image. I like the semi-pano crop and the reflections above the falls. My only very minor suggestion would be to crop the far right to eliminate the OOF close leaves.

This is a beautiful scene and I like the crop you settled on. I really like the contrast of the falling water with the reflections on the still water. Because the falling water is so bright, it takes a while for my eyes to pick up the reflections in the shadows. It may just be my own visual shortcoming or you might try bringing up the darks and shadows in the upper half a tad more. Others may not have this problem, so this is merely a provisional suggestion.

The crop feels just a bit tight at the bottom - but I love the space at the top of the image. I think the river needs some space to move toward us. That's my only suggestion for improvement, though. Otherwise, this is really nice. The soft lighting is just fight for this scene, and the reflections in the water are lovely. Well done, Nancy!
