Lewis and Clark National Historic Park is four miles from my home. This shot is more about logging history than exploring the West. Hiking the trails here is a bit like time travel. This image was captured on the Netul River.

Nice image Robert. I like how subtle the trees are in the mist. Great reflections and love the comp.

Lovely minimalist image. I like the snags and their reflections and the hint of trees in the distant fog. Was this area logged or are these trees drowned?

Actually, neither Mark. These are pilings that were driven 15-20 feet into the river bed. Two or three of the largest in the center are made of metal. They were used to secure log rafts against the tidal currents in this estuary.

I've passed through this area a couple of times and wondered about the story behind the multitude of pilings in this area on either side of the river. Thanks for answering my unasked question. I really like the mood you've captured in this light and with this comp. I like the highlights and the sharpness in the closest pilings that that slowly dissolve into the mist and shadows. It gives a nice dimensionality to the graphic elements of the scene.

I like the comp and the mystical feeling created in the photo. I does feel that it is leaning a little to the right.

This is great! I always love minimalistic compositions - and the foggy atmosphere and repeating lines make this one a beauty in my book. I love the fading contrast as you push deeper into the image. The pano is just right for the scene, too. Don't change a thing!

I very much like the almost abstract minimalist style of the shot, with the subtle tones, reflections and atmospheric mist. Thank you for sharing it with us.
