We had an early start from one of the camps in the Kruger Park when a Hyena appeared from nowhere. It went to drink from one of the waterholes and then promptly set off again om search of breakfast. It was just after daybreak so the light was still low but the golden light was shining.

There were reported Hyena cub sightings near the Skukuza camp while I was there a few weeks back, and we even waited a while on a couple of days near where there den was thought to be (under a culvert just off the road) but had no joy. In fact, I never got to see even one Hyena the entire trip, so hopefully you consider yourself real lucky Neal :^)

Nice light indeed Neal. The hyena has a nice look back pose and the catch light is a good addition. Although I like the complimenting colors in the FG and BG, I do find the bush behind the subject and the lack of separation a bit unfortunate. You did well shooting wide open to maximise separation. Also the FG grasses overlapping the subject are distracting IMO. Toning these down a bit may help reduce the effect.

Fine composition Neal. I like the way he/she is looking back at you. Nice detail on the face and I like the background habitat. The foreground grass in front of the hyena is slightly unfortunate.

Love the look you are getting from the Hyena and the color palette is great. I wish the green bush wasn't there, but hey, can't have everything right? nice work on this Neal and good job working with what you were given.
