The golden ribbon

Just a fleeting moment captured a few weeks ago. I intentionally processed this one darker. I wasn't too sure back then, but I'm liking it more with each passing day. The highlights are already backed down if you're thinking about leaving a comment about how I should back down the highlights. What do you think?

Hey Dorin, this is a REALLY, REALLY sweet photo. Very graphic! I love the hint of the ridge line in the background! Top notch image! :toast: :toast:

Your composition and processing really take advantage of the great graphics in the scene.

That is ripping good light. The diagonal streaks give it a great dynamic quality. There's a lot of negative space in the top half. Maybe you could say what your thinking was on keeping it in the image and maybe not cropping to a pano format. I probably would have cropped it to that format, but everybody thinks differently.
Excellent work!

Wonderful image! I don't have any problem with the highlights. I love as it is.

Great atmospheric mood Dorin. The small details are have tremendous impact.
I can't think of a thing I'd change with this one. Might be a few dust bunnies but not sure.
Great job

Definitely different from what we normall see here. I like the ribbon and the strong contrast. Really minor, but the one straight line in the dark sky makes me think contrail, though it does sort of work with the other barely visible shapes in the sky.

Amazing light! Love the immensity of the sky here too. This has a lot of visual impact!

Thanks for the comments. Morris, I went for a minimal approach here, composition and processing wise, wanting to give a feeling of isolation and starkness, although the conditions that morning were friendly and optimistic. I felt really good being there, but my vision told me something differently.
Tony, Chris, the background is not the sky, it's a big hill that was in the shadow at the moment of capture. The larger version shows the details in that area a little better.

Love that ribbon of light Dorin, amazing mood and atmosphere in this image. My first thought was to crop it to pano, but after playing around with that idea in the browser, I'm not so sure anymore. I can see what you're saying with this image, and the mood you're trying to convey. I think it feels "right" in this format...

Great work. :toast:

Very unique capture

I like the idea of the Pano crop here already suggested, the upper section contains very little interest. if it were mine, I would crop at the 50% point in the middle of the image, and slightly darken whats left of the background to further accent that killer ribbon of light  WOW! Well Done.

Dorin,

This is just fantastic - I'm only sorry that I didn't get to this sooner. This is so engaging! I could look at this for a long time and enjoy returning to it time and time again. The darkness of the bg really helps showcase the light and mist at the bottom, yet there is just enough detail being revealed to keep me looking and looking.

Highlights are fine, but this could be a good candidate for TK's Triple Play.

Wonderful imagery Dorin!

Wonderful ephemeral scene, Dorin. My personal inclination is to go a little more panoramic with images that show a lot of sky. This is very interesting and artistic. Congrats on the EP.
