subtle signs of fall in the southern swamp
by Bill Leggett
Inevitably the spiders and frogs and various other critters are beginning to hide as the mood changes down here in the swamp. At the least provocation of cool weather, the Cypresses start to turn to that familiar tawny red before losing their foliage sometime before Christmas, while many of the other plants hang on to varying shades of green. Shot at Northlake Nature Center just outside of Mandeville, LA, last weekend. Olympus E-1, Zuiko Digital 14-54 @14, 1/4 second at f8, ISO 100.

13 commentsVery nice!!!! You captured a good feel of early fall in a South Louisiana swamp. The filtered light and hint of red in the foliage are very appealing. I also like the board walk entering at the bottom and dragging your eye into the dense foliage of the cypress trees. Maybe I'm a bit biased of this type of scene but I think this is a superb image.
