I made this picture yesterday (9-11-2011) at our local prairie and wetland complex (Lake in the Hills Fen.). I live just a couple of blocks away so I walk here often. In late summer acres of the prairie fill with sunflowers and goldenrod.

Nikon D700; Nikkor 24-85 @24; 1/320s @f/11, -1.00, ISO 200, polarizer, tripod

Comments and criticisms always welcome.

Enjoy the colors and that sky - excellent
Seems like it could use a slight clockwise rotation... but the hill in the background could be throwing me off.
Either way nice shot.

Great collection of sunflowers and goldenrod. The sky is also very interesting. I can't say for sure, but in viewing your photo, I'd be tempted to squat down to try to hide the hillside and place all the flowers agains that amazing sky.

The yellow flowers are beautiful against the blue sky. Great contrasting color combination. A suggestion: you might consider cropping about half the foreground and making this image a semi-pano. The green leaves are kind of busy and the foreground is a little contrasty. Cropping about half the foreground would make this image all about the beautiful yellow flowers and gorgeous blue sky. Just a thought.

What a place! What a sky! And all that complimentary blue and gold... love it!

Certainly captures the sense of place. I think that Mark's suggestion regarding a lower POV would offer a nice alternate shot, but I think you would lose the sense of place that the strip of land beyond the flowers evokes. Love the clarity here.
