I was walking along the riverbank when this Meganser was startled and flew into the river. Got his head wet and I like his expression as he's shaking off the water. The face and eyes could be sharper, but there was no time to fiddle with the camera.

Canon 7D
100-400 @ 400mm
1/400 at f8.0 -0.33 EV
ISO 400

Thanks for looking. C&C appreciated.

Interesting head shaking pose you caught here Alan, if the image can take it, I think I would crop it some more for web presentation. :toast:

The head is a bit blurred but I like the sense of motion and the fine colors, interesting wave and composition. Had a chuckle about your description of making camera adjustments....

Allen,
I'm surprised it's as sharp as it is at 1/400. Too bad she's swimming away from you. Would love to have seen a side profile on this head shake but a nice capture none the less. Agree with Nate that it could use a crop. Good colors though.

Here's an attempt at a repost with cropping as suggested. Haven't tried this before, so not sure how it works. The crop seems noisier than the original.

It's nice to see the details more closely here Alan. Cropping will almost always bring in more noise and the more you crop the more severe it will be, you have to weigh that when deciding how much to crop.
