Long-winged Harrier

Here's another shot from my last full day of bird photography in the Ibera Marshes of Argentina. We found this harrier in a ditch alongside one of the dirt roads. We took some head shots of him in the ditch and then we got out of the car. Instead of flying away he flew alongside the car into the wind. Most of my shots I couldn't fit him into the frame but I managed to squeeze him in because of the wing position on this one. I then backed up about 20 yards and managed to get some more good images. Full frame.

This side view really has that "harrier" hoover. Beautiful detail and colors, excellent work. I don't think my camera has seen 1/5000 all summer due to all the rain and cloud up here.

Sharp details and I like the birds placement, well composed Nate.
Can't remember the last time I was at 1/5000th, your settings seem to have worked out nicely for this one..
Great head turn and side POV, well done! :toast:

Nate,
Wonderful capture. Love the story that goes with it. You gotta love when you have to back up to be able to get an image full frame. Superb head details and the slight head turn makes this all the better. Looks like she could use some new tail feathers. Sounds like you and your group had a terrific time down in Argentina. :wavey:
