Life Like Summer Flowers

I took this picture a few years ago in Mt. Rainier NP. The back-lit fog at this particular location lasted for only a few minutes. The light was difficult, since the top part of the picture was much brighter than the flowers in the foreground, even a 3-stop GND did not work. I ended up using both the GND and taking multiple exposures, then manually blended several exposures together in post.

Yiming,

This beautiful! The fog and beams of light really add a unique element to this wildflower scene; one that really makes this one stand out from so many mountain wildflower images. I love this - and no nitpicks or suggestions. Thanks for posting this!

Wow...that light is incredible. Great job w/ the blend! Compositionally I'm seeing the camera turned a bit to the left as right now it feels very left heavy with the main flowers and light over on that side. Really strong work here :)

This is absolutely beautiful Yiming! My kind of shot! Love those backlit anemones especially!

What area in the park was this?

Fabulous! Ethereal fog and silhouetted trees with bright sun drenched flowers are terrific contrast. Well done!

WOW! This is excellent. The light is so special and the textures in the flower patch go perfectly with it. You really have wonderful control of the light in the images on your website.

The light streaks in the ULC really make this shot and bring it to life. Great find with great processing. Very original. Nice work!

What a great scene, different from the typical wildflower shot, in a good way. Wish there was a little more going on in the LRHC but that's being picky. Nicely done Yiming :toast: :toast:

This field of flowers is gorgeous! And the blend, at least as far as can be seen on the web, looks really nice. If it were me, I think I would go a little bit brighter on the background for a more realistic feel, though I don't think there's anything wrong with keeping the image as it is.

A beautiful image, Yiming. The brightness and vividness of the fg flowers is a nice contrast to the muted, foggy bg. The light beams coming in through the fog are very special. I love those flowers with the big heads on them scattered throughout the image.

Absolutely beautiful! That amazing field of wildflowers is set off so nicely by the backlit fog and the tree silhouettes. I could look at this for hours.

Excellent shot. I'm used to seeing big mountains in the background with foregrounds like this, but I might like this even better. Love the atmosphere in that background.

I thought this was Tipsoo Lakes Yiming. Was there a week and a half ago, and the meadows were still covered with snow!

I've photographed wildflowers in Mt. Rainier NP, but never had a glorious experience
like this. This has a spiritual mood to it. Lovely, Yiming; I'm looking forward to
viewing more of your postings.

Fantastic shot, Yiming. I like the contrast between the moody background with the fog and the veiled details and the warm crisp foreground flowers. This is a beautiful composition and well captured.

Thanks again everyone. I spent about 4 days there that time. Raining/foggy all the time. The fog did add lots of mood to many of my pictures taken there. On the other hand, I did not see the peak of Mr. Rainier, not even once, during my entire stay there. So I guess you cannot win both way.

Joe: yeah I heard that this year the flower show was disappointing.

Seems like a hard exposure to pull off, but you did a great job here, Yiming! There is this lovely contrast between the warm light on the flowers and the dense fog in the background that creates a mood that I haven't seen in too many shots. Superb!

I think the foggy background offers up a different look from the typical wildflower landscape. Nice job.

I cannot imagine any way to improve this stunning image, Yiming. The wildflowers on Rainier are fabulous, but combined with the dramatic background I never saw a scene there resembling this. :toast: Congratulations on finding this scene and the great processing. :toast:
