Hell on Earth

For a few minutes, the sky lit up like fire over Lake Superior, after a storm had passed through last night.
Everything appeared orange for a brief moment, it was very surreal. It was like standing in a field of color cast.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II - 4 seconds - f/16.0 - 21 mm - iso50 - 3 Stop Hard Edge Grad ND

All comments and critiques appreciated.

Shawn,
An interesting composition. I really like the textures in the rock, and how the rock is leading me to the horizon. I think you can use a bit more contrast in the sky to make that low atmosphere white cloud stand out.

Nice capture!

Nice composition. I do agree with Navin that the clouds could use a slight contrast increase.

wild clouds and color, the rock looks great and really leads into the scene

Intense light again... I am seeing the same barrel distortion on the horizon as on the previous one I commented on...

Wow, some intense light! Looks like hell! I am seeing a nice second abstract comp in this one, with a little over half the top cropped off, leaving the rock and some background water. I find the light on the rock with the textures and shine to be excellent by itself.

Shawn,

This is closely approaching surreal and even abstract for me. I don't want to assume too much in terms of processing, but I can certainly say that the results are quite striking. I love the comp with the pointed rock obviously putting the viewer right in the middle of this almost mystical scene. Combine this with your previous and I'm assuming other images and you have a wonderful series going.

An amazing image, Shawn. The sky looks like a wall of fire. Love the strong triangular fg rock... it has an almost forged appearance, like it's been hammered out of metal. In fact the whole scene has a rather metallic feel to it's texture. Nice work!

Surprised this doesn't have more comments, what an amazing display of light you had here Shawn. Comp looks good, I like that pointed rock leading the eye into the scene. Sky looks like it could use a little more contrast as others have noted. Also wish there was a little more detail in the water, but still very nice as is..congrats.
