1/8 sec
Aperture priority
f/11
ISO 400
Focal length 109 mm
Tripod
My yard
Raw file processed in Photoshop Elements 9

I think I needed more DOF on this one, too. But trying a square crop with this, trying a little different processing, and posting it as the last one in the set.

Comments, critiques, suggestions desired and appreciated. Thank you!

One full frame filled w/feather-like foliage. I like the fresh look of and cool feeling of droplets. Agree w/DOF as too narrow...it suggests the tips to be emphasized, though smallish. In one respect the droplets can be distracting as they compete for attention and are mostly white...could a polarizer help?

I agree with the DOF suggestion Barbara and the suggestion from Ken to use a c-pl to take the glare out of the water. I have tried several times to capture palms, and have not had the good results that you have achieved.

Barbara, I agree with Ken about the drops. You have had a great set with the very strong graphical lines with these Sagos. Yes a little more DOF would be good but the drops are trying to steal the show so to speak. A simpler perspective of the powerful saturated greens and the graphical nature of the fronds make a compelling series. Perfect triptych material.

I think this more intimate view over the previous version. Could use more DOF, however. I also agree with Ken's suggestion of a polarizer to reduce the glare from the waterdrops. Because these grow in your yard, I'd give this another go when the conditions are right.

The texture in this one is delicious. I really enjoyed this series, you created a wonderful study of a beautiful plant.

Hey, doesn't this belong in Avian?
Love the concept and the comp. As you already said, just a bit more DOF would improve it.

This works for me as posted Barbara. I see the droplets as almost a different layer in the image. A touch more dof would be fine too. I like this image.

Barbara,

I think this is wonderful. I too like this as presented. I think there more than enough sharp elements throughout the frame and I like the shallow depth that then throws the far drops out of focus. I also think the lines and design are excellent. I'd say good eye to you!

I like your vision here and the composition sets it up well. Yes, a tad more dof would be an improvement, but this is very nice as posted.

From the thumbnail I thought this was green feathers! This is a wonderful abstract and the water droplets look like sparking diamonds! :toast:

Barbara, Terrific improvement over the previous POV. This one really helps me enjoy the geometry in the scene. Very well seen.
