Had to go on my belly to align the blue lily to just behind the wings of this flangetail.

D90 300mm+32mm F4 1/250 tripod. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

Gorgeous and well worth it! Lovely colours and the centered comp work great here.

Oh boy !!. These little dragons always pose for you - I really love the way the Flangetails clasp the perch - as if they are asleep. The golden "threads" in the wings, the purple splash etc make for a terrific setting also.

Class shot, Gary :toast:

Gary, beautiful color & excellent wing detail. I'm wondering if the last few tail segments are a little blurred.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Roger:
Yes the tail is a little blur. The DF is not truly vertical but slanting backwards. I had smaller aperture ones but the bg is not as nice as this one, so this is a compromise.

I wouldn't mind a slight crop from the bottom. Other than that, this is wonderful - especially that soft blue behind! Well done - and well-thought-out.

Amazing Gary! When shooting active critters, I tend to concentrate on the creature, so I seldom take the time to line up a great background like this. I'll think of you on your belly next time I am in the field! (Although, last time I kneeled in the water to get a shot, something left 4 tooth-marks in my leg.)

Gary: Just took a glance at your gallery and this is another one that hurt my jaw. One of the best dragonfly shots I've seen in some time. Most excellent.>=))>
