Moonrise from a high viewpoint on a moraine over this lake from which I've posted a few images lately. I've got a sunrise shot also which will be posted later on.

Wonderful, Kah! I like the mood that the colors and tones make possible.
The formations make for a strong FG. The clouds add an extra plus. I
also like the illumination of the rocks in the lake.

Thanks for commenting on my most recent posting. I agree that cropping
the trees in the BG would probably improve my image.

Magnificent image, Kah Kit! The soft moon lighting has created a beautiful, other-worldly look that is very mysterious and has a rather cinematic quality. Love the streaking clouds and repeating triangular shapes throughout the image. The details in the large version are outstanding. A really magic shot indeed.

Lovely shot Kah very natural and has a great walk in to feel to it. Nothing over dramatised I like it a lot.

Loneliness, beautiful solitude, is what this image conveys to me. The striations in the forground rock especially gets me, but that implies that the balance of this fine shot is less interesting and that is not so. Exquisite!

That's a great view, Kah. Especially the "fire" on the peak and the glow in the ice are fantastic. The foreground is fine but maybe a bit too bold for my taste. I wonder how a comp from the shore closer to the ice might look like - I'm certain you have one from down there too :)

A wonderfully inspiring image Kah Kit! I really like the anchor in the foreground and how the mist ( clouds) are rolling down through the valley of the mountain. Exquisite image! :toast:

Ahh man, to quote Nancy Kerrigan: "Why??? Whhhhyyyy???
I do apologize for my photographic pet peeves, and I know you know that i'm not claiming to be the last word here (well, ok, i really am... ) but i just dont understand the reasoning behind large rocks in the foreground when the background is super incredibly awesomely gorgeous. The rock is just a rock. And a pro wrestler turned movie star. Crop above the rock, and you have a million dollar shot...which is worth about 5 ounces of gold in this economy. :wavey:

Beautiful and dramatic image Kah Kit. I love the blue tones.

And I have my own photographic pet peeves, but they're not the same as Stans...
 I personally like the rock. I feel it gives the shot depth and perspective.

Like it a lot as is, the mood is wonderful...gotta admit that I'm with Stan that the fg rock doesn't add much.

Stan, as with all my foregrounds, I never include elements without a specific reason. I was particularly drawn to this one rock, first of all aesthetically for it's shape. Secondly because it tells a story about the nature of the landscape, shaped by glaciers. And thirdly for the cool glow which seems to pick it out among the other rocks.

It seems like you are getting in touch with your darker side! of the 4-5 shots similar to this in tone and light, I think this one is the darkest emotionally. I enjoy that quite a bit. The sweeping edge of the shoreline makes a dynamic comp too!

I just love the composition, Kah! The rock is truly complementary - it could easily have been too dominating. It balances the framing beautifully. Great mood too. Wonderful!

Dark and moody! I love the drama in this and the glow on the mountains is particularly striking, Kah Kit. I like the large boulders in this scene, but I would be curious to see an image closer to the water without them.
