I sat in my kayak this evening drifting with the current as I watched this sunset unfold.

iPhone 4

jpeg loaded into ACR, straightened and minor adjustments. Minor clone in CS5.

Nice snapshot! Love the waves in the foreground. Color seems a bit drab though and I would suggest changing the white balace a bit.

Sweet shot, Luke! Love the patterns and colors. It does look a bit 'flat'--id check the WB and also brighten it--looks at least a half stop underexposed.
EDIT: jpeg???

Stan,

Not sure what you mean by jpeg?? This was taken with an iPhone 4 so it's the only option and of course I don't have too many options when it comes to exposure and stuff. I'm not sure if this would play a role in the "flatness" of the colors but there was a nearly full moon that had risen about 90 minutes prior so there was a decent amount of "white light" coming from behind me.

Ok, you answered my question--i was just curious why you would limit yourself by shooting a jpeg--i guess this is part of your iPhone series. Do you have a write up somewhere on this 'experiment' of yours?

Nice, Luke.

Thanks for this demonstration of the capabilties of the iPhone. I expect to use mine mostly for personal snapshots and business, but it's scenes like this that show why it's always good to have a camera in your pocket.
