Floating mountain Nepal

During a three month trekking in Nepal I did spend 10 days at Shey Gompa, a Monastery at the base of the holy Crystal Mountain.

This is the remote Inner Dolpo, a restricted area close to the Tibetan border.
I was following the footsteps of the American writer Peter Matthiessen who walked around here in 1972.

A local Lama (monk) at the time banned the killing of animals and therefor wild blue sheep are relatively plentiful.

Early morning I climbed a steep mountain (alt: over 4500 meter). While the sun rose Crystal mountain became in full sunlight. The valley was still cold and dark. To me it seemed like Crystal Mountain was floating in a dark sea.

There is feeling of remoteness for sure. The composition of the image leaves me looking for a center of interest.
