Lily White

My first venture into this forum. After seeing the great photos here, it could be my last.

Nikon D300; 300mm; f9@1/2000th; ISO 200; HH from a kayak. Cropped approx. 15% from bottom - nothing from the sides - the reason for the centered comp.

All comments and suggestions most welcome. I have a lot to learn when it comes to flora.

Welcome to the Flora Gallery Tom. Based on this image and your gallery, I think you're safe here as long as you want to be. I particularly liked the marsh wren. Great job on the reflection in this image. Also on my Macbook the whites appear to be perfect. An outstanding introductory image for my tastes. No suggestions. I'm looking forward to seeing more images.

I agree with Pat, but I would like to see a little of the yellow innards of the water lily. I don't mind the centered comp in this instance, as plants don't usually move out of the frame; hence no need to leave them lots of room.

Ah, hah! you were in a kayak! I understand the angle, now!

Nice one, Tom. You handled the whites well and I really like the reflection, esp that center leaf. Interesting bg colors, also.

Neat shot--love the reflection. Don't know if its the processing or if that's the way it is--but the dynamics of the petals (light/dark contrast) seem to be missing in the reflection. If possible, maybe bring out a little more of that in the reflection. Nice!

Brilliant handling of the whites - superb sharpness for a handheld shot from a Kayak. Reflection simply puts this over the top :toast:

Hi Tom :wavey: I hope this is only a start at FLORA :eek This is amazing, considering this was taken from a kayak. Great color, detail, and reflection :toast:
