I recently had some older flora film images scanned for possible inclusion in an upcoming show at and about Fellows Riverside Gardens, Youngstown ("Fellows Riverside Gardens - Intimate and Inspirational"). I could use some feedback, and where better than here? Here's the first. Nikon F5, velvia. Comments/suggestions appreciated.

I always have and always will love Velvia! Its vibrant and saturated color and marvelous translation of greens had me at the first roll of film I had developed. You have utilized its full potential here, Scott. Outstanding color and I like your choice of pof and dof. I suppose some noise reduction could be applied to the background for a large print and that would be my only suggestion. :toast:

Lovely placement of dof. The focused stamen(plural?) does a great job of providing a balanced comp.

Well selected DOF & BG. I like the colors but I'm not sure about the orange frame  Nicely done Scott

Exquisite, Scott ! The stamens bursting from the flower really take the eye, and the colouring and overall softness of the swirling petals is a delight to behold. A superbly presented image !

Scott, I love the colour combo and it's richness. First class. The POV is excellent. I do think I might want to add some breathing room on the sides. The tallest petal just right of centre bothers me a little and for my tastes.

Scott:
This would be a great image for the show. Some noise reduction and a little more canvas left and right would just be perfect.

Scott,

I'm going to agree with the comments already made. I'll add that I might add canvas on the left rather than the right since for me that's the direction the flower is facing. Beautiful image.

Nice colors and the flashy curves and flares of the petals adds a lot to this. Well done. Ken

Makes me grab my F100 and load a roll of Velvia 50 into it  - its really that good, Scott. Superb colors which only Velvia can produce with excellent details in the center on a clean background.

Great shot anyway I look at it :toast:

First, the photo is splendid for my taste, Scott. The blend of the two colors in the softer area is simply great. Suggestions? May be more softness in the background around the stem. If the stem becomes softer could be even better, may be. The second is not about the photo: the red border seems too stark and steals attention. Show to us other images at this level, Scott!
Take care.

Lovely, Scott! I can't see anyway in which to improve this. Good DOF
choice, rendering the flower sharp at the most important part.

The only suggest I would make is to add some more room around the flower, per se; IMO, it looks a little cramped, especially on the right side.

I am not sure what you where doing here. I would like to see the flower sharp and a soft or blurred back ground. For me, I don't like the flower petals blurred. I also think it is cropped to tight. If you have the original, I would definitely rework it.
