Oil field, Oman

Oil seems to be some sort of an icon for the environmental issues associated with our current lifestyle. Air, soil, water - all of them may be impacted by oil, as it is extracted, processed, transported, or burnt. My shot depicts an oil field in Oman, in the middle of the desert, where black pipelines criss-cross the almost white sands.

This is a very effective comp Basil, and nicely illustrates both the "process" of oil extraction and the various possibilities for pollution. The only thing missing is the water, but that's waiting at the nearest shoreline. Perfect timing on catching the trucks, too. And last but not least, what a great subject for black and white! :toast:

The B&W treatment here works well.
Great perspective, showing many elements of oil production.
Very nice image!

B&W is an excellent choice here. Looks pretty gloomy. Good shot and story!
