A female Shot in 2008 at a time I used at the most a monopod or chest pod and almost never went above ISO 200. Noise and lots of cloning to background. I like the action and wish not to loose any detail so have not used NR.

Olympus E-510
50-200mm F2.8-3.5
1/500 sec @F 3.5
flash off
ISO 200

Large view

C & C always appreciated.

Has a delicate feel, and that's how I think of hummers. Nice job, Charlie. The wing blurs really add a lot of motion, also.

Cool action Charlie, the head looks nice and sharp, I'd prefer a little more room on the right. :toast:

I wasn't sure this would meet with much approval and happy to have you comments all.

Nate I would have wished to give that shot a bit more over on the right also. It didn't work out. I think this shot was with my chestpod and I found I don't have as good control of my camera as with a monopod. I may try adding some (as they say) canvas.

Oh, by the way Wayne the blur of the wing closest, always was one of the things I likes most about this shot. Van't plan that sort of thing and when it happens it is neat.

Charlie,

Nice work on the exposure and how you got the head & bill sharp. I like the motion blur.

Interesting angle of the hummer and I like the blurring wings effect, good detail where it counts and catch light in the eye, way to go.

Sharp where is counts with all the blurred action showing movement nicely Charlie.
Have to agree with Nate, a bit more room RT would be better.
Well done :toast:

I love this! The detail is great and I like how the tail position looks like she's either slamming on the brakes, or backing up. Very sharp where it needs to be and that catchlight really makes it come alive.

Great pose and excellent detail, Charlie. Getting enough blur in the wing to show the eye through it is nice.
