Mirror image
by Robert Bunch
I photographed this great blue heron early one morning last fall at White Rock lake in Dallas. It's only five minutes from my house and there are lots of birds there. I liked the mirror image and the colors reflected in the water.

12 commentsThe reflections on the water are dreamy & very interesting and the still pose of the heron is great. Nice look at the eye and graceful curves of this heron. The blues are a touch oversaturated though and I would tone the blues down for a more natural look.

I'd blur them a bit with a Gausian blur so they don't compete with the heron.
The blues seem over-saturated and very unnatural - but easily corrected. I'd also darken the wide, light post just behind the bird.
Nice catch!

I can't remember seeing such a striking mirrored avian reflection before
I agree with Wayne "I'd crop the darker green at the very top, and also agree with reducing the blues a bit" to make it perfect.
