I took this shot several years ago during the fall Monarch migration. A split second sooner and it would have been a great shot.

I love the motion you captured here Philip. Yes,a shame you didn't get the entire butterfly in the frame, but still a very interesting shot.

This is actually quite a pretty shot. The motion blur on the butterfly works well here.

Wow! What a beautiful effect! The dynamic motion and the brilliant colors really grab your attention. It may not have been the image you set out to capture - but it's a winner just the same! For a finished look to the image, I'd recommend a nice, tight crop - leaving a bit of that lovely, yellow flower. Don't lose any of that beautiful motion blur, though! I really do love this image, Phil!

Thanks for the suggestion. As it turns out this was my original processing of the image.

Love it, Phil. The motion blur makes this a much more interesting and dynamic shot, with the perfect title to introduce the subject. The tighter crop works very well. An image like this captures the epic journey of the butterfly, while leaving room in the viewer's imagination for the story. Great shot. Kudos for the EP.

Absolutely perfect, Phil! The crop makes it even better - but you knew that! Gorgeous!
