Trinity River NWR. Trinity Texas. October 2010
D3 ISO 1000. 300/2.8 with 2x tc. f7.1 1/5000s (No I don't know why I was at ISO 1000) Hand Held. Natural Light.
I like the position of the bird versus the perch.

What a wonderful pose. The funky 2 section perch really is unique as well.

Cool capture and a nice perch. Fine work on the glossy blacks. Is the bending of the upper bill called cranial kinesis or something like that? It appears you've captured it, anyway...

Angela, I like how the bird fits into the perch. His pose is very nice and I love the open mouth.

Excellent shot. The blue background really works superb here as it really brings out the bird. Great perch and composition. Well done.

Angela,
I like how the bird's pose seems to echo the the angle of the branch behind it. Nice work on the exposure, cormorants can be very challenging to expose and bring out the interesting patterns in their plumage, you handled it well. I like the open bill and the nice look at the eye. I would work on the halo around the bird and branch.

I like your comp here Angela. The bird is fairly centered but it works well because of the similarity of the branch on the right. Great calling pose too.

Very interesting image Angela. Nice pose, compelling perch and composition and and your exposure of a difficult subject looks good. I seldom clone but in this case I might consider doing so to the small vertical piece of wood coming into the frame at lower right. I too notice the halo.

Love the angles and lines in this one Angela, also the open bill that accentuates the hook of the upper mandible :^)
