Zion Pothole Reflection

This past May, I visited Zion National Park for the first time (Also, my first NP visit ever).
I captured this on the the first day in the park.
The conditions were gray and overcast, leaving me a little depressed, but I was determined to make something work.

While hiking up a section of the Eastern Plateau, I noticed a tree being reflected in a pool of water. I used a Polarizer to enhance the reflection and to pull some detail out of the near detail-less sky.

All C&C appreciated.

Killer image! Glad you could make some lemonade from lemons. The detail & conversion to B & W is a good choice here.

This is absolutely superb, Shawn! Even more impressive, being your first visit when most others might be tempted to check off the iconic views. It reminds me of some of Minor White's work. One of the best I've seen from Zion in a long time. Congratulations!

Thank you for the responses!

@Guy, we made it a point to look at the iconic spots, but to explore other areas to photograph. Thanks for the flattering compliment.

Very cool! It has sort of an abstract quality to it that is very appealing. Nice eye.

Elegant, sweeping lines...and an alluring sense of confusion. Thank you for this Shawn!

This is fantastic in a graphic sort of way! Very unusual and attention getting! :toast:

Curious if you were stopped down or not? This is a perfect situation for a DOF/Focus blend...

Wonderfully creative, Shawn. The folds in the sandstone are fascinating. It really looks like some weird folded optical illusion of a window to a tree. Very nicely seen!

Thanks Everyone

@Mark - This was shot at F/11
I have printed it at 30x40 and it looks pretty sharp everywhere. I am sure focus stacking would have provided better results. I should start playing around with that.

Wonderful shot. Except for the title it could be tree and sky shot from below ground level. B&W a good choice to highlight the composition.
