FLORA THEME - TREES
Sony A100
Minolta 20mm
ISO 200, 1/30 @ f11, CPL

Thought I would kick off the theme week with an old tree and several new ones. This is one of my all time favorite subjects in Rocky Mountain National Park. I make it a point to visit this old guy every time we visit and have a number of shots in different light and conditions. It is also one of my very favorite places on the planet. I've spent many predawn hours and evenings up on this ridge line just listening to and watching the wind. All comments welcome. >=))>

The tree is beautiful and colors so rich. I enjoy hearing about folks that love secluded nature, wherever. Your a man after my own heart.

Wonderful Bill, this shot puts me right on that ridge as well. The rugged tree and the clouds tell a story of a unforgiving environment at times. Well done.

Ah yes, Windy Ridge. Such marvelous views both ways here. This is even worth a hike up from Rainbow Curve in winter. This image is just about perfect in every way. Great comp and spot on processing. :toast:

Bill,

No penalty flag on this one  I can see why you like this spot, it's stellar and the subject is so photogenic, and you know it will be there when you return. Sweet :jump: When I saw the thumb I thought this was the bristle cones.

Bill, especially the large version with the tangible details is stunning for me. I enjoy exploring the amazing texture of this tree. The way you contrast it to the sky makes it a symbol of steadiness, maybe even eternity to me. Thanks for sharing.

Old and bold. It makes me lonesome for my own high ridges and singing winds. I love images that touch my heart. Thanks for sharing

WOW. This captures the romance there. I could spend time there, given the chance.

Awe inspiring Bill. Certainly can understand your attraction to the scene. What character this tree has and I just wonder what stories it could tell. :toast:

This is a great shot. The larger version offers so much more detail in the tree and other foreground elements. I really like how you've matched the bent trunk with the cloud deck. It looks like a spot I'd love.
