The Rush
by Koveh Tavakkol
After a beautiful sunrise at this location, the clouds broke apart enough to show some good movement, and the light was casting some beautiful shadow and light areas on the mountains as it shone through the clouds. I always appreciate your C&C.
Canon 5d2, 16-35 lens, polarizer, gnd and nd filters for long exposure

Zack, great catch, not sure how I missed that, but it looks like it was added with global adjustments in SEF. Should be an easy fix.
Yiming, this was a 13 second exposure. This was a very soft 2 stop GND filter used, so the dark spots you are noticing are due to cloud cover at the tips of the mountains and also how the sunlight was streaming through the thick clouds overhead. It was almost like a spotlight on certain sections of the mountain, but left others in darkness.
Congratulations!
This is freakin amazing. I am assuming you used the Big stopper for the extra long exposure. Great comp and light :)
No nits from me at all. This is a fine complement to the beautiful color shot from the same day.
Shaun, I used a 3 stop ND, but with the polarizer I was at about a 5 stop reduction for the 13 seconds. My big stopper would have just been overkill and I did not want to go over 30 seconds on this one.
John, I really appreciate your comment. It is hard sometimes following a great color image with a B&W version, but they both have pros and cons I guess. =)
Although I dislike the insanely early hiking as you know, I do wish I would have gotten up that morning and joined you. Your efforts certainly paid off and you have two great images to show for it.
I'm not sold on Nik being the best way to go about the B+W conversion but do like it here.
I also noticed the blurry foreground but it may not be a big deal in a print as the things photographers split hairs over the public could care a less and the photographers are not going to buy our work!

If you have one I would suggest that you blend a shorter exposure into the foreground. Just to compare. It may not be a good.
Overall Koveh this is still the best B&W that I have seen for quite a while.
BTW, shoot me an email someday!
Congrats on the WP!
