Just got back from a very successful 2 day outing near Crested Butte, CO. The wildflowers have just exploded there this week (and so have the mosquitoes ). The shear variety of flowers was incredible. It was a great opportunity to practice with my new 24mm TS-E, i made a few mistakes but im learning fast, and i definitely am happy with the purchase! I took this shot approaching sunset on Saturday.
5Dmkii; 24mm TS-E; 3 image blend at f/16.
C&C Welcome!

The variety there looks amazing. The upper edge of the flower sky transition looks a little dark (URC mor than L middle), possibly from your blend but there might be a hill there that would make it darker. The detail in a large print must be fantastic. Hope to see more from you CB travels. :toast:

Wow, what a terrific collection of colors. The flowers are beautiful, but the contrast between them and the surrounding vegetation seems stark. Is that from processing or web compression?

These colors are so amazing. I like the detals here. The details in a large print must be fantastic.

Thanks!
Mark--i think i slightly oversharpened here, between that and the compression (had to save at 60%--at 80% it was 500+K!) thats probably what youre seeing. It looks fine at full scale. I should have posted a larger version.

Cool shot Stan! This is a psychadelic meadow! The shadows look a bit dark, particular the ridge - some more work on the blending is needed I guess. Anyway, really interesting work here!

What a fantastic array of color, Stan! Looks like you are putting that new lens to work. I bet the details would be striking in a print.

Beautiful colors and lovely comp Stan. The 24mm TS-E is one of my favorite lenses and you have already found out where it performs best in this type of situation.

I do really like the veriety, and diverse color pallette here. It seems a bit different than what I'm used to seeing in Alpine wildflowers. Is this slightly lower in elevation maybe. Anyway, the spattering of blue in there is real nice, as well as the taller stalks almost a sage color.

Really like the colors and textures in the foreground. Dark horizon feels a bid NDFish.

I'm loving the color variation here Stan.

Does not look over sharpened on my monitor.

I do wish for a more complimentary sky that makes the whole a little more cohesive if that makes any sense? But still very nice image!

The colors here are beautiful Stan, and the detail looks fantastic. Wish too that I could see it larger. A lens I have also been thinking about!

I'm loving the variety you captured here! It looks like a bouquet. (It's a scene ready-made to toss a wedding into.)

Thanks! I boosted the shadows a bit to correct the perceived dark horizon issue--i think this is an improvement...thanks for the suggestions!

That's an amazing array of color, Stan. Those flowers are beautiful.. the blue/purples are a real treat. The clarity and crispness is excellent and the max color really makes the flowers leap off the screen. I like the contrast of the original post, but I thought the sky was too bright and didn't seem to match in contrast. It's only my take, but I would blend in a much darker sky (multiply mode, perhaps) that brings it further in line with the fg darkness (that I really like). Hope that makes sense! btw, the best mozzie repellent stuff I've ever tried is called 'Bushman' ( www.bushman-repellent.com )... nothing touches you with that stuff on!, but I'm sure you've got some great stuff over there too.

Dunno about this one man...seems really weird to me. Colors seem hyper unrealistic, the horizon grass looks odd/darkish, and the sky feels flat and dull (possibly overexposed) compared to the overwhelming foreground you have.

Compositionally it feels like two completely different images. You should have just stuck with the flowers and eliminated the sky completely.

Just my honest opinion. You have done WAYYYY better than this before, artistically and from a processing stand point. The second version is not much better.

But then everyone else seems to adore this, so ignore my critiques. Cheers!
