White-faced Capuchin

Arguably the most intelligent of the primates of costa rica. I expected to see a lot of them based on the trip reports i had read. They turned out to be pretty hard to get (compared to the omnipresent spiders and howlers). On the first leg of the trip (deep in la selva), i barely had a glimpse of three passing through the canopy. I was luckier in Corcovado Natl park but never managed to observe them up close until the last day. I was walking back from la sirena station to la leona when i heard their unmistakable chatter  It was mid day and they were a little lethargic, allowing me to get close.
Dont trust that leaning tree trunk. Its on a slope and ready to fall  This was taken on the forest edge overlooking the pacific ocean. Hence the apparent sparseness in the canopy.

Nicely done! I found getting good photos of these guys on my one trip to Costa Rica very difficult to do. Good expression on the monkeys face. Thanks for sharing.

That bright sky made for really tough exposure decisions! You did fine to get this much detail in the face. I assume you already tried to get texture out of the shadow on the darker body? I quite like the effect of rim lighting on the fur around the face and even the rear feet and you have excellent reflectivity in the eyes.
