Alien Cloud over the Medano

I made this image on a recent trip to the Medano Ranch in the San Luis Valley. After a great sunrise, a couple of hours later this amazing cloud formed. I used my new Nikon 14-24mm lens at 14 mm and I still could not get the whole cloud in the frame. Since the light was harsh I envisioned the image in BW and processed it in Silver Efex Pro 2 with a slight platinum tone. View the large version for the most impact! C&C welcome.

That's a fairly epic landscape image, Stephen. The B&W conversion is excellent for drama. The large version has a little bit of noise in the sky, but easily fixed. Killer shot! :toast:

Pretty awesome cloud and excellent light rays. I agree about the noise at the top. I actually prefer a crop with a little off the top. Nice toning, Steve.

The San Luis Valley produces the best cloud displays and this is a great example. I am really enjoying the composition and all of the details in this image. I cannot tell if the lands slopes up on the right side of the frame, but this does look slightly tilted to the left. Beautiful image, Stephen.

Very cool cloud indeed! It looks like there's a slight CCW tilt to the composition though.
